Bronx - New England Ballet presents the Nutcracker Suite at the Bronx Zoo. Fairies,
princesses, darling Victorian girls, and dancing dolls will entertain the young and the young at heart in an abbreviated version of Nutcracker choreographed for a young audience. There is
a kind, gentle Uncle Drosselmeyer and the rat army will sit out this performance to create a lovely glittery 45 minute child friendly version of the holiday story. The show is professionally
choreographed and costumed. The cast of characters will include Clara and her friends, Uncle Drosselmeyer, Sugarplum Fairy, Dewdrop Fairy and her Flowers, Princesses from
Arabia, Spain, and China, and two dancing dolls.

Huntington - The Huntington Ballet Theatre's (HBT's) 18th annual production of The
Nutcracker, will be held at the Jeanne Rimsky Theatre. The Huntington Ballet Theatre (HBT) is a not-for-profit ballet company dedicated to providing young dancers with the
opportunity to perform side by side with professional dancers. HBT is a community-based
ballet troupe that holds open auditions for every production. This insures consistently high
quality performances worthy of featuring some of today's foremost professional dancers. The Huntington Ballet Theatre not only produces its own shows; it also is hired by various
theaters to present ballets in condensed formats for younger audiences. The company performs in local schools as part of arts-in-education programs as well. One hundred

Plum Fairy. Tickets for RYDE's special audience performance are available ONLY through Senior Citizen Centers and organizations with active membership among Seniors and the

. Hastings and Ms. Klausner, along with Artistic Director Diane Frankel have all had extensive careers on the Broadway stage. As the founder of the Rockland Youth Dance
Ensemble (RYDE), a non-profit organization, Diane Frankel has devoted her attention and talent to educating students of all ages in the performing arts for the last 40 years through
Coupe Theatre Studio in Nanuet.

Rathbun.
Now in its 13th year and with a repertoire that includes such classics as Snow White,
Sleeping Beauty, and Romeo & Juliet, this is the company's first staging of the Nutcracker.
What sets it apart is Rathbun's keen understanding of her audience, and her unique gift for
rich and lively story-telling. "Even at best, the Nutcracker is often difficult for families with
young children," says Rathbun. "Kids get restless. A Children's Nutcracker is choreographed specifically with that in mind. It's the same wonderful story and beautiful
music that we all love, but tightened up so that there's always something exciting to watch."
Whether you are a child, or just a child at heart, Upstate NY Ballet's journey into Clara's winter wonderland is a new holiday tradition not to be missed.
