Syracuse - Upstate NY Ballet - -Syracuse's own and only
professional ballet company -- is delighted to present A Children's Nutcracker. A dazzling mixture of accomplished local talent and renowned guest artists, this stunning fantasy ballet is
the stuff of dreams. The time-honored story of Clara and the Nutcracker Prince has been beautifully adapted for families with young children by long-time artistic director, Kathleen
Rathbun. Now in its 13th year and with a repertoire that includes such classics as Snow White,
Sleeping Beauty, and Romeo & Juliet, this is the company's first staging of the Nutcracker.
What sets it apart is Rathbun's keen understanding of her audience, and her unique gift for
rich and lively story-telling. "Even at best, the Nutcracker is often difficult for families with
young children," says Rathbun. "Kids get restless. A Children's Nutcracker is choreographed specifically with that in mind. It's the same wonderful story and beautiful
music that we all love, but tightened up so that there's always something exciting to watch."
Whether you are a child, or just a child at heart, Upstate NY Ballet's journey into Clara's winter wonderland is a new holiday tradition not to be missed. Upstate NY Ballet
